About Me
Atta Zahedi is a disabled disability advocate, writer, and technology consultant specializing in understanding and fulfilling unmet needs.
I currently volunteer at Cripple Media as an editor, since 2020, and at the Therapy Access Project, since 2022, as a Development Coordinator and Grant Writer. I additionally have previous experience in product design, marketing, and business plan writing for biotechnology companies, both start-ups and well-established. Throughout all of these experiences my focus has been to center individuals and populations that have been ignored, exploited, and otherwise left out of conversations. My approach focuses on restorative justice for communities while creating collaborations for inter-community solidarity. In all of my work I center the 10 Principles of Disability Justice to promote collective access and liberation.
I am well-versed in various style guides, including the Disability Language Style Guide by the National Center on Disability and Journalism, Chicago Manual, AP, APA, and MLA. Additionally, I have content creation, writing, editing, and organizational strategy experience in both the science and industry sectors and can offer services in both field.
My joys are science fiction and fantasy, tea (I have a whole closet full of teas!), media of all kinds, my pet disabled Chihuahua, and planning picnics with my friends. I live in Chicago and enjoy road-tripping wherever I can, with a goal to visit all National Parks.
